Quick Blog Update…Stay Tuned for More.

July 31, 2019

Since I haven’t had time to update the blog lately, I thought I would post a quick update…so you don’t think I have lost interest in family research. It is actually quite the opposite. I have been working on an intense 15-week online Boston University Genealogy Certificate class all summer. The coursework has not left time for personal research or writing. I will be back with new stories this fall, in addition to a few surprises. Stay tuned!

    1. Hi, Michelle. Thanks for the update.

My wife is checking out courses as well. Why did you select this particular one? Is it geared toward being a professional genealogist for pay, or more for personal interest?

Can you give an idea of the cost?

Good luck. Thanks for the note.

      1. Hi Doug,
Sorry for the delay. The end of August was particularly busy, but I am happy to report that I passed the BU course with flying colors––photos with my certificate and BU T-shirt to come :). To answer your questions:
        1. I selected the BU Certificate Course because it is acclaimed within the genealogical community and many graduates go onto obtain genealogical certification (CG). The instructors are well respected and have help author many current genealogical learning resources.
        2. The cost is what you would expect for a professional-level certificate…$2,695 to enroll.
        3. It is a time-intensive course! I had work flexibility and invested about 30 hours per week into the 15-week program. I cannot imagine trying to complete it with a full-time job.
Feel free to email me with additional questions. It was worth it for me, but may not be for everyone.
